Final Project Details: Color and Light

I’m really pleased with how this project turned out.  Even without any color grading or correction done, the footage looks really good.  We can make it look even better, though.

Finishing Touches

We now have all the footage for the collaborative project.  I’ve completed a draft of it – you can check it out below.

Your final project is to color grade this piece.  You’ll find two versions of it in this Google Drive folder.

The first zipped file (The Drop – to be color graded) is quite large – about 14GB.  You should download this version if you want to do some additional editing to the footage.  The second zipped file (The Drop – to be graded LT) is around 4GB and only has the footage from my version of the edit.  So if you only want to worry about the color grading, download that smaller version. You are in no way obligated to play with the edit, I just wanted to give you the option.

Both versions have the green screen segments already keyed out, so you just need to drop the background of your choice under the footage and do the color grade.  I’d suggest using an adjustment layer with the green screen footage, so that you can affect both the foreground and background footage simultaneously.

When you are satisfied with your color work, export the video using the Vimeo 1080HD H.264 preset and email me the video file.  You may need to upload it to your Google Drive and send me a download link.

Please have your finished work to me no later than midnight on Sunday, May 6.  I’ll be in the studio during normal class hours on May 4, and most of the rest of that day, to provide feedback and assistance.  As always, let me know if you have questions or need help with anything.

I can’t wait to see your finished films!
